The presenter goes out in the only example in the U.S., with Christian von Koenigsegg.

Jay Leno gets to drive a lot of cars, but few as powerful as the Koenigsegg One:1. Here we see him drive the only One:1 in the United States, for his Jay Leno’s Garage TV show, and he seems suitably blown away by it.

First, though, he takes a tour round the car with company founder Christian von Koenigsegg, who points out that the doors and engine lid are all single, huge, massively complicated pieces of carbon fibre. He also points out that Koenigsegg was the only automaker to produce its own carbon wheels - until Ford starts making similar rims for the GT. And he mentions the firm even makes its own brake calipers, and that the von Koenigsegg family dates back 1,000 years.

The One:1 is named after its power-to-weight ratio of one horsepower per kilo. Its entirely bespoke, 5.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine produces some 1,360 horsepower, and it tips the scales at 1,360 kilograms (3,000 pounds). No other production car in the 130-year history of the internal combustion-engined automobile has achieved that one-to-one ratio. It’s also the first production car with an engine that produces the equivalent of one megawatt of power.

Koenigsegg claims the One:1 can sprint from 0-100 kilometres per hour (0-62 miles per hour) in just 2.8 seconds - about the time it took you to read that statement. Meanwhile, 320 km/h (200 mph) appears on the speedometer just 14.3 seconds after launch. Top speed is a theoretical 441 km/h (274 mph) - no one will ever know how fast it actually is because the only track in the world long enough to reach that kind of speed is owned by Volkswagen, who will never let anyone challenge Bugatti’s production car speed record.

Just six examples of the One:1 have been built to close out the Agera model line and make way for the new, revolutionary Regera.

Leno appears a little intimidated by the One:1, but seems to thoroughly enjoy driving it. I wonder if he was moved to place an order?
