Huge wheels, slammed stance. Because SEMA.
Stanced and slammed cars don't really make a lot of sense from a functional standpoint, but boy, they sure do look cool (I guess). You can find a ton of these lowered rides all throughout the annual SEMA Show. And this year, Chevy's brought along a slammed concept of its own.
Meet the Camaro SS Slammer Concept, which, based on its name, is pretty self-explanatory. The standard Camaro SS’ body is widened and lowered (though Chevy doesn’t say by how much) to make room for those huge chrome wheels, measuring 22 inches up front and 24 inches out back. But don’t worry, this Camaro doesn’t stay slammed all the time – there’s an air-adjustable suspension to raise and lower it as desired.
Beyond the obvious lowered-and-chromed treatment, this concept features a ground effects kit, black badges, and tinted lamp housings. That unique exterior color is called Dazzling Black, and I hear it’s a neat contrast to the Adrenaline Red interior... that Chevy hasn’t released photos of.
This is an SS model, so under the hood, you’ll find Chevy’s 6.2-litre LT1 V8, good for 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque. Building upon the Camaro’s already nifty performance is a Brembo front brake kit and stainless steel exhaust.
Of course, if this lowered Camaro isn't your thing, focus your attention on Chevy's Camaro Turbo AutoX Concept, which takes the 2.0-litre model and turns the handling capabilities up to eleven. And it's yellow. Really yellow.
