And you can buy them.

Choosing the spec of a McLaren is hideously complicated. Like every other supercar maker, the choice of colour, material, and finish offered for every single bit of the exterior and interior are virtually limitless. And that is before you start digging into what the MSO personalization service can do.

The process has been simplified for 570S buyers, though, as McLaren has launched five “Design Editions."

But together by the British brand’s own designers, each is themed around a different colour. Pictured here is Design Edition 1, which combines Vermillion Red bodywork with diamond-cut, five-spoke wheels, red brake calipers, and a Stealth exhaust. Inside, the seats are upholstered in Carbon Black alcantara and Apex Red Nappa leather, and the upper facia panel is trimmed in Jet Black leather, with the lower facia in Apex Red leather. A dual colour steering wheel, Slate Gray stitching, and McLaren branded leather sill trim finish it off.

Other Design Editions will come in Onyx Black, Storm Gray, Ventura Orange, and Silica White.

Mechanically, the 570S remains standard. Not that it matters, as the 3.8-litre, twin-turbo V8 motor already serves up 570 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. Driving the rear wheels through a seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox, that is enough to fire the thing from 0-100 kilometres per hour (0-62 miles per hour) in just 3.2 seconds, and on to a top speed of 328 km/h (204 mph). Those are senior numbers in what is supposed to be an entry-level supercar.

Other Design Editions will come in Onyx Black, Storm Gray, Ventura Orange, and Silica White. Buyers can add whatever extra equipment, trim, and carbon fibre pieces they want. Well, you wouldn't want to entirely remove the complication from ordering a McLaren.

The package costs £8,500 (approx. $14,000 CAD), which McLaren describes as a "significant" saving over adding the extras individually. That brings the total price out at £151,750 (approx. $250,000 CAD). Orders are being taken now for delivery in 2017. U.S. and Canadian pricing has not been announced.
