Nissan has unveiled the world's first seven-seat bobsled in Innsbruck, Austria.

Created with the assistance of bobsled manufacturer Diego Menardi, the Nissan X-Trail Bobsleigh draws inspiration from the company's seven-seat crossover and features a unique front fascia with boomerang-shaped LED headlights and a simulated V-motion grille.

The model is based on a traditional four-person bobsled but it has been extended to accommodate up to seven people. As a result, the sled is pretty big as it measures 4.2 metres (13.8 feet) long which is just 0.42 metres (1.4 feet) shorter than the X-Trail.

The Nissan X-Trail Bobsleigh recently made its inaugural run at the Olympic Sliding Center in Innsbruck and it was piloted by British Olympic medalist Sean Olsson.

According to Nissan, the bobsled accelerates from 0-100 kilometres per hour in 30 seconds, has a top speed of 104 km/h, and is capable of pulling up to 4.5 G's. For comparison, the X-Trail Tekna 1.6 dCi 4x4 has 128 horsepower which enables it to run from 0-100 km/h in 11 seconds before hitting a top speed of 186 km/h.
