This is the first time an OEM has won the SEMA Hottest Vehicle Awards for two consecutive years.
The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show has named three Ford models as the hottest representatives in their segments. The Mustang, Focus, and Ford F-Series are officially the Hottest Coupe, Hottest Hatch and Hottest Truck of this year’s event.
The award is given to the most popular vehicles the members of the organization feature in their displays. Last year Ford became the first original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to win three of the prestigious awards and this year marks the first time an OEM has repeated the triumph.
What’s more, the Mustang has now won its fifth consecutive SEMA award for the most popular vehicle at the event.
“We are honoured to take home three SEMA hottest vehicle awards for the second straight year,” Dave Pericak, global director at Ford Performance, commented.
“Embracing the aftermarket industry is something we relish, and – with Mustang, Focus, and F-Series being back-to-back winners – it appears the aftermarket appreciates our products as well.”
The F-Series also has a very special place among tuning fans, as it has won six SEMA awards in the last seven years, demonstrating “the versatility of America’s best-selling vehicle.”
“Ford is a great partner with the specialty equipment market, and the Mustang, Focus, and F-Series trucks are terrific platforms for customization,” according to Chris Kersting, who is SEMA president and CEO. “Through collaboration with Ford, the aftermarket industry has been able to provide consumers with countless products and options on ways to personalize their vehicles.”
You could definitely look for some more interesting SEMA news from the Blue Oval, as it has the largest OEM presence at show this year. More than 50 vehicles are on display, including a large collection of custom builds on the Ford stand and show floor. One of the stars for the automaker is the 2017 F-150 Raptor prepared for the Baja 1000 offroad race.
