A new Facebook video proves that when conditions are bad enough, any driver can look like an amateur.
If you've ever experienced snowy conditions where you live, then you've likely seen unskilled and unprepared drivers sliding their cars all over the road. That's not something we expect, though, in Montreal, where residents are no strangers to winter's worst. A new Facebook video proves that when conditions are bad enough, any driver can look like an amateur.
The nearly two-minute-long video shows numerous vehicles - from a transit bus, to a pickup truck, to a hatchback - as they enter an uncontrolled slide travelling downhill toward an intersection on what looks to be a busy street.
Even the police aren't immune to the slick conditions.
The bus is the first vehicle we see, as it collides with a group of vehicles that have already hit each other. One sedan is actually pointed in the wrong direction. The hatchback slides uncontrolled close to the other side of the street, though luckily it seems to have avoided any contact with other cars. The pickup truck, meanwhile, hits the stopped bus, and eventually ends up getting sandwiched with another bus.
Even the police aren't immune to the slick conditions. A cruiser - which looks to be equipped with winter tires - slides helplessly down the road, and somehow manages to be pointed in the opposite direction, as it slowly hits the second bus end-to-end.
It's almost comical watching the chaos, except that of course there are people in these vehicles. It seems as if none of the cars are going fast enough to cause serious injury though, so we hope everyone involved in the collisions escaped unscathed.
This serves as a gentle reminder that you never can be too careful when behind the wheel, and if you don't have to drive during a snowstorm, it's better to just stay home.
UPDATE: Motor1 Canada has received word that the video was shot from e-commerce giant Shopify's Montreal offices.
