The G80 Sport uses a new 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 mated exclusively to an eight-speed automatic transmission, foregoing the 3.8-litre V6 and 5.0-litre V8 used in the 2017 G80.

Genesis is putting the "Sport" into the G80 lineup for the 2018 model year, and today, Hyundai's new luxury arm has announced pricing for the new G80 Sport. The sedan will have an all-in price of $62,000 for its expected on-sale window of late spring of this year.

The Sport model incorporates improved driving dynamics and exclusive visual cues to differentiate it from its non-Sport siblings. Genesis says the G80 Sport features "improved body motion control, agility, and larger front and rear brakes," to go with an upgraded adaptive suspension.

In terms of styling, the G80 Sport is fitted with unique 19-inch wheels, distinctive copper elements, carbon fibre interior trim, Nappa leather sport seats, and a more compact steering wheel.

The G80 Sport uses a new 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 mated exclusively to an eight-speed automatic transmission, foregoing the 3.8-litre V6 and 5.0-litre V8 used in the 2017 G80. The new V6 produces 365 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque, easily besting the 3.8-litre (311/293), though falling short of the potent V8 (420/383). Like all Genesis models in Canada, the G80 Sport is equipped with all-wheel drive.

Genesis is continuing with its "tradition" (and we use that term loosely for a company that's technically less than a year old) of all-in pricing. The G80 Sport's $62,000 cost, for instance, includes all freight and delivery fees, Genesis at Home valet service, scheduled maintenance, map updates, and more, for five years or 100,000 km - whichever comes first. The only things owners need to choose are which of the four exterior colours they want, along which of the two interior colours they prefer.

More Genesis news:

Reservations are already open for the G80 Sport, which was first revealed at the 2017 Montreal Auto Show in January. Interested buyers can pre-order online via a $1,000 refundable deposit. From the sounds of it, the G80 Sport will be arriving just in time for the warm weather and dry road conditions.
