The TLX has been updated and upgraded for 2018 with a new dual-screen infotainment centre that includes Android Auto functionality.

Acura is set to release a hot new version of its TLX just as the warmer weather is finally making its way to Canada. The refreshed 2018 model year sedan goes on sale June 1, and starts at $35,990, which is a slight $300 increase over the base MSRP of the 2017 model.

While the 2.4L TLX starts in the mid-$30's, the price jumps up to $40,990 for the Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) model equipped with a 3.5-litre V6. The all-new sporty A-Spec package, meanwhile, is available on both the SH-AWD model, as well as exclusively in Canada on the four-cylinder P-AWS variant. The TLX A-Spec starts at $42,190.

The TLX has been updated and upgraded for 2018 with a new dual-screen infotainment centre that includes Android Auto functionality, as well as numerous design changes. Gone is the "beak" grille from recent years, replaced with Acura's new diamond pentagon grille, which can also be found on the newest MDX SUV. Canadian buyers are also treated to exclusive dual exposed exhausts.

The A-Spec, meanwhile, adds a matte black grille with dark chrome surround, a dark appearance for the Jewel Eye headlights, exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels in dark gray, a gloss black decklid spoiler, and "smoked" LED taiilights, among other enchancements.

More on the TLX:

It's not all aesthetic changes. The A-Spec also gets a retuned electric power steering system and damper settings, and SH-AWD models feature a quicker steering ratio, and a stiffer spring rate and rear stabilizer bar for better body control. Sport seats with improved bolstering help keep the driver and front passenger from sliding around during the inevitable advanced manouvres being done while piloting the TLX.

"We're enhancing the already outstanding dynamic performance of the Acura TLX by carrying our Precision Crafted Performance direction through to the exterior design," said Gary Gill, Senior Manager Acura Sales and Marketing. "The addition of the new A-Spec further advances the TLX to a more distinctive position in the segment and enhances its appeal to a more performance oriented buyer."
