Say it ain't so!
If there's truth to a new rumour from BimmerFile, we might be looking at the last generation of BMW 3 Series Sports Wagon that'll be sold in the United States (and possibly Canada). The BMW enthusiast site believes the long-roof 3 Series will leave the U.S. market in a couple of years, and won't be replaced.
It makes sense – BMW phased out the 5 Series wagon in the U.S. a few years ago, though the homely 5 Series Gran Turimso remains. A similar story is expected for the 3 Series range: The X1 and X3 crossovers will fill its void, as will the somehow-even-more-silly-than-the-5-Series-Gran-Turismo 3 Series Gran Turismo. Because why have the style and practicality of a wagon when you can have the ugliness and impracticality of a... weird hatchback-ish thing?
There's no official confirmation for this rumour just yet, and even so, we've got some time before the end of the 3 Series Sports Wagon's run. The F31-series wagon isn't scheduled to go out of production until June 2019. In other words, there's still time. Maybe.
UPDATE: We reached out to BMW Canada to confirm or deny but source said there was no official word on the future of the wagon sales in Canada or U.S.
