New EcoBoost variant in the works.
Petty's Garage has revealed it will build 500 King Edition Mustangs for the 2017 model year.
The company is keeping detailed specifications under wraps but confirmed there will be a new King EcoBoost variant. Little is known about the model but it will be equipped with a rear spoiler and a center-mounted exhaust system which "mirrors the look of all other Petty's Garage Mustangs."
Power will be provided by a 2.3-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that normally produces 310 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque. It remains unclear if the model will have any performance tweaks but Petty's Garage is describing it as the "most radical EcoBoost available to purchase from your local Ford dealer."
Customers looking for something more unique can order a limited edition model that celebrates Richard Petty's 80th birthday which takes place on July 2nd, 2017. Production will be limited to 43 units and each will have a tricolor exterior that mimics the 25th anniversary scheme used by Petty in 1996.
The King and King Premier Mustangs will also be making a return to the lineup with outputs ranging from 670 hp to 825.
Full details will likely be announced closer to launch but, in the meantime, the company confirmed pricing will start at $35,000 (approx. $45,700 CDN).
