Look for a public debut later this summer.
Rumours about the Pagani Huayra Roadster (rendering above) have been circulating for years, but a few lucky (and presumably quite wealthy) clients recently had the chance to see the upcoming droptop hypercar. According to Auto Evolution, the Italian automaker put the convertible on display on June 29 during the party to open its new, larger factory.
Unfortunately, the teaser photo on the company’s event invitation doesn’t give much away about the roadster’s design. Earlier reports indicate that chopping off the roof would require adding some weight because the chassis would need extra reinforcement. However, the lack of a top would let occupants easily hear the standard Huayra’s Mercedes-AMG-sourced biturbo 6.0-litre V12 with 730 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque. Pagani would build just 100 of these convertibles. Later, patient customers will reportedly be able to order a Huayra BC Roadster with a V12 making 789 hp and 811 lb-ft of torque.
If you don’t have a pile of cash to buy the Huayra Roadster, there’s still some good news. You’ll likely at least be able to see the convertible soon. Pagani will allegedly give the model a public unveiling during Monterey Car Week in late August. We’ll look forward to seeing how Pagani will remove the hypercar’s roof.
