Venom 800 pack available for 2013 to 2017 cars.
Hennessey Performance made its name tuning the original Dodge Viper, adding two turbos that boosted the 8.0-litre V10 to 1,000 horsepower. The legendary model may be on its way out of production now, but that hasn't stopped Hennessey from developing a new supercharger kit for the most recent generation of Viper.
Called Venom 800, the addition of a blower running at five pounds-per-square-inch is just the start of the modifications included in the pack. Hennessey also adds an air-to-air intercooler, high-flow fuel injectors, an engine management system upgrade, all the necessary gaskets and fluid, and a three-inch stainless steel exhaust system.
The result of all that is 808 brake-horsepower and 790 pound-feet of torque, which translates to a 0-60 miles per hour (0-96 kilometres per hour) time of 2.9 seconds and a quarter-mile sprint of 10.5 secs at 143 mph (230 kilometres per hour; on the optional drag tires). It's fast, in other words - very fast - and it sounds utterly wonderful.
Hennessey also throws in Hennessey and Venom 800 exterior emblems, numbered dash and engine plaques, and a set of premium floor mats.
The Venom 800 upgrade is available on 2013 to 2017 Viper, GTS and ACR models (no price is quoted). None of which really need a supercharger, as they are pretty unhinged in standard form anyway. But why not make them even more mental?
