Models boast an electronic-locking rear differential
The Toyota 4Runner lineup is growing, as the company has introduced the new TRD Off-Road and TRD Off-Road Premium variants.
Set to debut at the 10th Annual FJ Summit in Colorado, the 4Runner TRD Off-Road features a modestly revised exterior with TRD Off-Road badging on the C-pillar and special wheels with black painted accents. The body-on-frame SUV also boasts an updated cabin with "TRD Off-Road" branded floor mats and faux carbon fibre trim on the center console.
Moving up to the TRD Off-Road Premium doesn't reward buyers with much as the only change Toyota mentioned was the addition of red "TRD" badging on the front headrests.
The changes sound relatively minor but both variants are equipped with a Multi-Terrain Select system which allows the "driver to use a dial to select the mode that matches prevailing terrain and conditions, adjusting wheel slip accordingly." The SUVs also have an electronic-locking rear differential with a Crawl Control function that helps the vehicle maintain a constant speed when driving in challenging off-road conditions.
The 2017 4Runner TRD Off-Road and TRD Off-Road Premium will be launched later this year and pricing will be announced closer to launch.
