Honda is trying to spice up its crossover and minivan with an array of sporty tweaks
The HR-V and Odyssey are far from being what you would call exciting cars, but Honda is trying to make the two more appealing to youngsters by offering a series of Mugen cosmetic upgrades. Both of them have received a slightly more aggressive body kit with beefier front and rear bumpers, a Mugen-styled front grille and larger side skirts.
At the back, the subcompact crossover and compact people carrier have a roof-mounted spoiler which in the case of the Odyssey seems too much for our tastes. A fresh set of two-tone alloy wheels is also part of the package, and if you go for the MPV an optional sports exhaust system with dual tips can be specified as well.
It’s all show without any actual extra go since the HR-V and Odyssey with Mugen components lack any upgrades in the engine compartment. Should you want a more powerful Odyssey, there’s an insane 1,029-horsepower 2014MY which will be up for grabs later this month at an event organized by Mecum Auctions.
The HR-V and Odyssey by Mugen are currently on display at the 2016 Indonesian Auto Show where the duo shares the spotlight with other Honda products, some of which aren't currently on sale in Canada, or are known here by a different name. These include the Brio facelift, Civic Hatchback prototype, Jazz RS special edition, BR-V / BR-V Modulo, and a special edition of the HR-V.
